In terms of the plot itself, the movie follows a typical teen-love triangle with all the usual subplots that usually accompany such love triangles. The storyline follows the story of two high school students who happen to share a room. One is the daughter of a wealthy family, the other is stepmother to a much older rich boy. The stepmother develops feelings for the younger boy because her own younger son also has a crush on her. When the girl’s stepson goes out with his friends to meet some “buddies”, the “stepmother” decides that she wants the “boys” too and plans to spy on their meetings.
If you have read some of Jennifer Aniston’s previous films (Nurse Jackie, Friends, and Magic) then you know how good she is at playing opposites. In this movie, she plays the role of the pushy, controlling, domineering mother who tries to keep her stepson from his friends and from meeting someone else. She wants to control every aspect of his life, even the things that do not make her happy. It is clear from the beginning that the stepmom has decided to play this character based on her own childhood experiences. If you enjoyed Ms. Aniston’s previous movie roles (including the well-known Baby Mama), you will enjoy watching her in this movie as the Stepmom. There is some adult content, but the movie is not for those under the age of twelve.
