When Fucked My Step Dad While Mom Was Sleeping was released, it changed a lot of things for me. I had been freaked out by the fact that my father, step-father, wanted to leave me and move in with my mother, but after I read the book, I realized that he loved me more than anything and had wanted to be with me since I was a small child. After the book, my relationship with my step-father was so much better than it had ever been. He loved spending time with me and even when he wasn’t around, I would curl up on his bed and read his books. He loved supporting me and helping me through school and when I needed financial help, he gave me one of his old beat up cars and showed me how to use it.
Fucked My Step Dad While Mom Was Sleeping was one of the first books that I read where I didn’t have to put too much of myself into the characters. The book is about a girl named Jane who is eleven years old and her mother has recently died. Jane’s stepfather, Steve, has moved in and is acting as her legal guardian and has custody of her. One day, Jane and her friends are sitting around and have fun when one of them, named Sarah, mentions that Steve had been unfaithful to her for years.
As if that isn’t bad enough, Steve starts to act strangely and doesn’t let his little girls go out. When one of them tries to get their parents to let them go, they are told that they should talk to Steve. So, in an effort to prove that she is a good girl, Jane’s friends decide to set up a meeting with Steve. Before they can tell him why they want to meet, however, Steve gets up from his bed and heads to the house. Once there, he starts to abuse the power of his step-in-law and before long, his friends decided that they will no longer let him have custody of their daughter.
