In this new movie Mom Is Troubled By Porn, actress Anna Kournikova plays the role of a distressed mother who is worried that her son has contracted a sexually transmitted disease through inappropriate contact with an adult. Anna Kournikova’s character, Olga, visits her son’s doctor, Dr. Yefyev, who performs a battery of tests on Olga. The results of these tests reveal that Olga has a very high level of a protein called follicle stimulating hormone, or FSH. FSH is produced by the pituitary gland, and according to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), women whose FSH levels are above normal are more likely to get pregnant. However, Olga’s levels are significantly lower than normal. As a result, Dr. Yefyev informs her that she is unable to become pregnant, but rather has to go into therapy in order to deal with the condition.
While struggling to balance her career and taking care of her son, Olga is devastated when her boyfriend refuses to give her permission to leave home and go to college. When confronted with the fact that her son has contracted a sexually transmitted disease, Olga does not know how to proceed. Thankfully, her friend Marina (Alexandra Romania) lends a sympathetic ear and provides advice on how to proceed. After a string of unfortunate events, including the death of her best friend and the tragic loss of her son to drugs, Olga makes the decision to go into therapy in order to address her sexual identity issues and get herself out of her situation.
However, instead of going to therapy, Olga decides to go and have a baby with her son. The movie suggests that this was not the best choice she could have made, given that she felt so strongly about her decision to enter treatment in the first place. This story line provides insight into the lives of moms as they try to juggle work, children, and their sexual identity. Although this may seem like a typical film, it does provide an important message about the perils of letting your child take responsibility for your entire life, when they should be focusing on only one facet at the risk of neglecting their other needs.
