There have been many examples of step moms stepping in to help their stepchildren. Stepmoms have been known to step in to help when their children need them the most. This is especially true when stepmothers and stepfathers do not live close enough or are too far apart to see the child on a regular basis. You will not lose that child in his relationship with his father but you will have someone close to him that is willing to be there for him.
A stepmom should be considered just as much for the benefit of the child as it is for the stepfamily relationship. The only difference is that the stepmoms do not technically raise the children, but they do help raise them in a sense. Also stepmoms have their own lives to work around and can sometimes put a little bit too much pressure on them.
